Slash Rant Ep. 60: Mass Layoffs
The Pulp Ep. 26: Summer Draft
Game-N-Talk Ep. 43: Feel the Chi…Inside You With the Avengers film coming out on May 4th, Marvels marketing team has been kicking it into high gear. Instead of making the cliche movie tie-in video game, they’ve decided to make a game that is based on the actual comic books while still focusing on the iconic Avenger members that we will be seeing in just a couple months. The interesting thing about Avengers Alliance is that it is an online, turn-based role playing game that will only be available on Facebook.
You begin by being recruited as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. You will be tasked with creating your own team of Avengers by adding two members to your party. As the story progresses you will unlock playable superheroes such as Hulk, Thor, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Captain America and more. There are a total of 28 playable characters with over 100 iconic Marvel characters making an appearance in the game. The story is simple; mysterious crystals fall from the sky that can give or enhance a persons super powers. Naturally, the bad guys rush out to claim these crystals, while the good guys fight to stop them. As you play the game, you’ll come across some of the crystals and can use them to level up your characters various stats.
Being that this is a social media game, you can continue playing even when you are not in front of the computer. In other words, you can send your characters on timed training missions, sign off of Facebook, go grab a coffee, come back an hour later and find that character has returned from their mission. Of course, when that character is out training you can still continue playing the game but you won’t have access to the character until they return.
No release date as of yet, but you can believe that this will be out before the Avengers invade theaters. And yes, the game will allow for player vs. player matches.
